Software Engineer
Job Summary:
At Disney Experiences Technology, our team creates world-class immersive digital experiences for the Company’s premier vacation brands including Disney’s Parks & Resorts worldwide, Disney Cruise Line, Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa, and Disney Vacation Club.
As a Software Engineer on the DX Technologies team, you will design, build, and support capabilities across workforce management platforms and integrated services. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys building production software while taking strong ownership of test automation, quality engineering, and CI-driven validation.
This role sits in the Labor, Health, and Safety Technology Organization within Disney Experiences. It works closely on supporting the Cast Member experience across the company and you will work with other Software Engineers to ensure systems are testable by design, resilient in production, and supported by reliable automated validation across UI, API, and integration layers.
The Software Engineer will report to the Manager of Software Engineering, Labor Systems.
What You’ll Do:
Design, develop, test, and implement software components, enhancements, and fixes across backend services and user-facing applications.
Build and maintain automated test suites across UI, API, and integration layers using Java or other object‑oriented languages.
Design, extend, or improve test automation frameworks that are reliable, maintainable, and easy for other engineers to adopt.
Drive the conversion of manual tests to automated tests wherever feasible; implement manual testing only where automation is not effective.
Participate in design and architecture discussions to improve system testability, defect detection, and long-term quality.
Partner with product managers, QA, and other engineers to define acceptance criteria and validate solutions end‑to‑end.
Assist in triage, diagnosis, and resolution of defects discovered in development, test, or production environments.
Contribute to CI/CD pipelines by integrating automated test execution and quality checks.
Participate in code reviews with emphasis on testability, reliability, and maintainable design.
Create and maintain technical documentation, test strategies, and supporting artifacts.
Work independently to deliver well-defined features or technical deliverables within agreed timelines.
Stay current with emerging engineering, testing, and automation technologies.
Qualifications of the Role:
A minimum of 3 years of professional experience in software engineering, test automation, or quality engineering.
Strong proficiency in Java/JVM (or comparable object‑oriented language); experience using code to build both production and test systems.
Hands-on experience building or enhancing test automation frameworks, not just individual test cases.
Experience automating tests at multiple layers (unit, API, integration, UI).
Experience integrating automated testing into CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins or similar).
Solid understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and Agile/Scrum delivery.
Experience working with cloud platforms (AWS and/or Google Cloud), containers (Docker), and microservices.
Strong desire to establish and continuously improve product quality through engineering practices.
Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical partners.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Workforce Management or Labor Systems in a SaaS environment.
Experience with UI automation frameworks (e.g., Selenium or similar).
Experience testing event-driven systems and asynchronous workflows.
Experience with JavaScript frameworks (Angular and/or Node.js).
Familiarity with cloud-native architectures and fault-tolerant system design.
Knowledge of Agentic workflows and MCP design patterns.
Required Education:
Bachelor's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or related field, and/or equivalent work experience
