Job Summary:

The Data Intelligence & Analytics organization is seeking a Manager who will lead a team focused on measuring, understanding, and taking action on engagement trends and audience behavior that impacts the strategic goals of The Walt Disney Company. This team collaborates with stakeholders across the Direct to Consumer business as well as partners from business units across TWDC to generate insightful, compelling, and strategic analyses that provide an understanding of content portfolio performance to drive decisions around content strategy and portfolio optimization.

This role will be responsible for the decomposition of platform engagement into content, subscriber, and product drivers and will lead investigations into behavioral changes across the various ways we evaluate the health of our content and Disney+ and Hulu subscribers. The right person for this role is a problem-solver with exceptional analytical capabilities and strong communication skills, who loves collaboration, and is passionate about content. 

  

Responsibilities 

  • Diagnose complex trends and develop analytical frameworks to measure drivers of engagement. 
  • Communicate analysis results to a wide array of business stakeholders with varying technical expertise from operational teams to executive audiences, both in oral presentations and via written reports. 
  • Partner closely with business stakeholders (Content Partnerships, Content Programming and Merchandising, Product/Engineering, Business Operations, Marketing, etc.) to understand business problems and determine methodologies to derive actionable insights. 
  • Proactively monitor and stay up-to-date on nuanced data changes, including the introduction of new data that could impact the accuracy and interpretation of streaming analytics reports and dashboards. 
  • Maintain a deep understanding of the underlying data pipelines and transformations to quickly identify, troubleshoot, and communicate any potential data integrity issues or anomalies. 
  • Translate complex business questions into SQL including proper cohorting, calculations, filtering criteria and/or aggregations. 
  • Lead and mentor a high-performing team of analytics professionals, managing day-to-day operations and developing talent. 

Required Qualifications 

  •  Bachelors or Masters degree in Analytics, Data Science, Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, or related quantitative field. 
  • 8+ years of strategic analysis to inform product or business decision making with a track record of working closely with Executive leadership.
  • 5+ years of hands-on analytical work experience with SQL with 3+ years leading high performing teams of technical analysts. 
  • Expertise working with extremely large, disparate data sets and using SQL for data wrangling, ETL design, and analysis. 
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to apply business strategy to data analysis and recommendations. 
  • Skilled at simplifying complex problems, distilling data, and constructing compelling data-driven narratives to guide decision making. 
  • Very comfortable translating highly technical analyses into easily understandable insights for non-technical stakeholders. 
  • Expertise with data exploration and data visualization tools like Tableau or Looker. 
  • Ability to effectively communicate key findings and strategic recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. 

 

Desired Qualifications 

  • Experience in the streaming media industry and/or supporting a direct-to-consumer or subscription-based product.

The hiring range for this position in Santa Monica, CA is $141,900 to $190,300 per year and in New York, NY is $148,700 to $199,400 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
