About the Role & Team

At Disney, our stories, products and experiences reach audiences and guests around the world. As Trade Compliance Manager, you will play an important role in helping those products move across borders in a compliant, efficient and responsible way. Supporting import and export activity across the UK and EU, you will help the business navigate customs requirements, manage trade risk, reduce duty exposure and enable smooth cross-border operations.

You will work closely with teams across Disney, as well as customs brokers, logistics partners, government agencies and external vendors, building trusted relationships and providing practical guidance that supports our people, our partners and the wider business. This is a collaborative role for someone who enjoys solving complex problems, improving processes and contributing to a culture where everyone can do their best work.

This role is based in our London Hammersmith office, with an expectation to work onsite four days per week.

What You Will Do

Import Compliance (UK & EU)

  • Ensure accurate and compliant import declarations, including classification, valuation, origin determination, and duty calculation
  • Review import documentation for accuracy (commercial invoices, packing lists, origin certificates, product data)
  • Maintain and update tariff classification databases (UK Global Tariff, EU TARIC)
  • Apply preferential trade programs where applicable (e.g., EU FTAs, UK FTAs, Rules of Origin)
  • Partner with customs brokers to resolve clearance issues, exams, holds, or post‑entry corrections
  • Monitor regulatory changes from HMRC, UK Border Force, and EU customs bodies

Export Compliance (UK & EU)

  • Determine export control classifications (e.g., UK Export Control Order, EU Dual‑Use Regulation).
  • Screen transactions for restricted parties, embargoed destinations, and licensing requirements
  • Ensure compliant export filings and documentation (export declarations, licenses, commercial paperwork)
  • Oversee proper procedures for temporary exports, returns, and repairs
  • Coordinate with freight forwarders to ensure timely and compliant outbound shipments

Governance, Risk & Operational Excellence

  • Develop and maintain compliance Store Operating Procedures (SOPs) for UK and EU processes
  • Conduct audits, root-cause analysis, and corrective actions for compliance gaps
  • Provide guidance to internal teams (Merchandise, Sourcing, Product Development, etc.) on customs and export requirements
  • Support trade compliance training across business units
  • Escalate trade risks and propose mitigation strategies to leadership

Collaborative Functions

  • Coordinate with TWDC Tax dept for VAT, Duty management
  • Work jointly with Finance & Accounts to calculate and monitor the application of duty and freight factors used to calculate the landed cost of imported products
  • Apply for relevant import licenses to ensure product can be imported
  • Ensure all Import Standard Operating Procedure is routinely followed thus ensuring comprehensive and timely shipment and clearance of goods through to the DC(s)
  • Liaise with the global logistics partners and other TWDC supply chain entities to develop and implement progressive initiatives and industry best practice
  • Compile and issue defined periodic reporting and ad-hoc supporting information to illustrate key statistics, data and business or financial impact
  • Maintain awareness of and excellent functional relationships with TDSE and external department leadership / stakeholders. Maintain networks within the industry to ensure relevant knowledge of the marketplace and legislation relevant to

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Strong understanding of UK and EU customs regulations, import and export frameworks, and trade compliance requirements
  • Experience in tariff classification, customs valuation, duty management and preferential origin
  • Hands-on experience partnering with customs brokers and logistics providers
  • Familiarity with UK Export Control classifications and EU Dual-Use controls
  • Strong analytical skills and a keen eye for detail
  • Clear, confident communication skills when working with cross-functional teams
  • Confident presentation skills and the ability to tailor information for different audiences
  • Experience developing procedures for inbound management processes
  • Experience in a multinational supply chain or consumer products environment
  • Exposure to FTZ/customs warehousing, IPR/OPR or other special customs regimes
  • Knowledge of trade compliance systems, such as GTM software
  • Experience creating training materials or compliance guidance for stakeholders
  • Experience working across different cultures, including with teams or partners in the US, EU and Far East
  • Confident using PC-based tools and import and duty management systems
