Disney Digital Entertainment, a division of Disney Experiences, is redefining how audiences interact with The Walt Disney Company—creating the ‘digital front door’ that unites all of Disney’s magic into a cohesive, interactive universe.  

Disney Digital Entertainment is seeking talented individuals passionate about pushing the boundaries of scalable systems that power unforgettable experiences. You’ll design and optimize high-performance platforms. 


As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will build and run the services that connect Disney guests to new experiences across the company. That means working with systems, teams and constraints well beyond our own codebase. 

We write Go and we run on AWS. That is the shape of the work today, and everyone on the team has a say in where it goes next. You will design APIs, model data and make the trade-offs that keep our services reliable under real traffic. When a problem sits outside our stack or our team, you go and solve it there.

You will write down your reasoning so others can follow it and challenge it. You will work with the teams whose systems we depend on, inside Disney and outside it. You will decide things without waiting for someone to decide them for you.

What You Will Do 

  • You design and build HTTP APIs and event consumers in Go, and you own their data models end to end.
  • You make resilience and rollout decisions and write down why, so the team can follow and challenge them.
  • You own what you ship in production: the dashboards, the alerts, the follow-up.
  • You raise the bar through code review and clear writing.
  • You improve the codebase, the tooling and the pipeline a little every week.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • You have professional experience of building and running backend services in production in a typed language. We write Go. It does not need to be on your CV, but you should be glad to make it your daily language. Rust, C#, Java, Kotlin or server-side TypeScript transfers well.
  • You are comfortable with relational data, message streams or queues, and the ways they fail.
  • You test your own work and write clearly about it.
  • You go deep on things nobody asked you to learn, and you have changed your mind about a technical belief.
  • You enjoy working closely with others, including people who do not write code.
  • You have made other engineers better, through review, pairing or mentoring, and you want to keep doing that.

Nice to have: AWS, OpenAPI code generation, OIDC or Terraform. We will teach you the rest.



Where you will be 


This role is remote. You can work from Sweden / Denmark / Norway / Finland. Travel may be required a few times per year, typically around 2-4 trips annually, depending on your location. Travel may include destinations within the Nordics as well as other countries.
