Preparing for Your Interview
Ever faced a “Tell me about a time…” question and felt like you were caught in a plot twist? Behavioral interview questions are designed to reveal how you’ve handled real-life work moments—and how you might perform in the future. Follow the STAR method below to bring your experience and background into the spotlight.

Interview Question Tips
Unlike traditional questions that focus on your skills or education, behavioral interview questions help us understand how you think, solve problems, navigate challenges, and collaborate with others—just like you would in your own story arc.
You’ll recognize them by how they start:
-
“Tell me about a time when…”
-
“Give me an example of…”
-
“Describe a situation where…”
These questions are used to assess soft skills like communication, teamwork, adaptability, and leadership so we can see how you bring your character to life in the workplace. Here’s how to prepare for your starring role:
- Craft strong stories ahead of time. Think of moments where you overcame challenges, celebrated team wins, resolved conflicts, or learned from missteps.
- Tailor your tales to the role. If the job calls for leadership or problem-solving, spotlight those qualities.
- Be specific. Skip the generalities—show us how you made an impact by highlighting the how and why of your actions.
- Practice out loud. Rehearse with a friend or record yourself. The more you share your story, the more confident and clear you’ll be.
The STAR Method – Disney Style
At Disney, we believe every career journey is a story worth telling. When preparing for interviews, think of your answers like scenes in a movie—clear, engaging, and memorable. That’s where the STAR Method helps.
S - Situation
Every great story starts with context. Set the stage for your interviewer—where were you, what was happening, and why it mattered? Think of this as the opening shot of your story.
T - Task
Every hero has a mission. Explain the challenge or goal you were responsible for. What was your role in moving the story forward?
A - Action
This is your big moment! Describe the specific steps you took, the creativity you brought, and how you collaborated with others. Show how you were the main character driving the plot.
R - Results
Every Disney story has a resolution. Share the outcome—what was achieved, learned, or improved because of your efforts. If possible, highlight the “happily ever after” in terms of impact on the team, project, or company.
Pro Tip: Keep your STAR stories short, clear, and focused on your contributions—so the interviewer sees you as the leading character in your career journey
