Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures is seeking a Sr. Manager to work in Theatrical Sales on the Domestic Distribution team handling all of Disney’s theatrical releases. The role requires superior relationship management, strategic thinking, and analytical skills.  A proactive, independent, high-energy, positive attitude is a must. 

Oversee all sales responsibilities in a mid to high profile territory of the U.S. for all theatrical releases from Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. This includes customer direct sales and booking functions, relationship building, managing accounts receivables, and marketplace analytics.  Act as a mentor/guide to sales reps and sales coordinators. Need to be available some nights and weekends to visit theatres during opening weekends of our films.

Responsibilities:

  • Sales of all films distributed by the Walt Disney Studios (Disney Live Action, Disney Animation, Marvel, Lucas, Pixar, 20th Century, Searchlight) Territory will encompass some of the large grossing theatres and high importance market.  Number of Theatres on opening of a film should be 200-250 Theatres and 1,000+ plus screens. Territory to handle all Ohio & Detroit territories, (250+ locations)

  • Managing accounts (Theatres) in their specific markets. Collection of daily grosses, entering box office reports, and film rental due. Look for excessive passes and discounting by exhibition.  Handle accounts receivable for 3-5 National Circuits, collection for the year should be over 100 million from each Circuit. National circuits that they will be overseeing are Emagine, Loeks, MJR, OHIOCOOP, & Tri State Theatres.

  • Sales area research and analytics, studying specific markets they oversee. Study trends and pricing for theatres. Identifying changes including demographics of customer base in these markets. Involved in Circuit audits for accounts inside their respective division. Run point of box office issues and excessive passes.  Focus on sales team to manger and problem solve.

  • Will have a direct report and will oversee their territory, which will be approximately 150 locations, mentoring and coaching throughout the entire sales and A/R process

  • Assist with marketing material placement requests & theatre visits. Verifying that film materials are displayed in theatres and studio trailers are on screen.  Responsible for all materials and placements in top 100 theatre in the Los Angeles market.  Bi-monthly visits and on the spot for corrections of missing trailers and missing display material.

  • Takes initiative and is a self-starter.

  • Multi-task by switching smoothly from one project or job to another.

  • Strong work ethic. A team player with a strong focus on driving results.

  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (MS, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and some SAP.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 6+years of experience in theatrical motions picture sales and distribution or theatrical exhibition.

  • Some marketing background and experience.

Required Education

  • BA/BS or equivalent professional experience


The hiring range for this position in Burbank, CA is $117,900- $124,900 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
