Production Security Manager (Project Hire)

The Production Security, Special Events and Anti-Piracy team provides oversight, assistance and response for production needs worldwide including talent security, production security, set location and off-site remote location security, investigative support, travel security, and alert monitoring, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week while in production. In an emergency, the Production Security Manager can respond, oversee, and direct the production team. They contribute support by providing operational capabilities and policy or procedural recommendations in the performance of essential services, liaising with third party security vendors, law enforcement and emergency services, and in the formulation and dissemination of security related plans. Further, they operate as the central communication point for security related incidents for all production-related activity and locations.
A Production Security Manager is an individual who oversees the safety and security of an active production. They are responsible for communicating at all levels (crew, talent, production executive) with the ability to use discretion and be firm when an issue arises. They are taught to understand the overall objectives of a production to balance them alongside their security objectives. They are responsible for managing the security planning to facilitate the needs and requirements of the production, minimizing risk wherever possible. Overall, they are on the ground advisors to the production leadership for identifying and mitigating security risks.
Responsibilities:
- Function as head of department for security on assigned production(s). Develop and maintain relationships with key production points of contact – i.e., Production Supervisor, Production Coordinators, and other Heads of Department.
- Collaborate with production to develop security plans and policies to mitigate identified risks, to include ongoing assessment and improvement of plans in alignment with Disney and industry production security standards
- Evaluate production locations including film locations, stages, sets, workshops, and offices and establish risk profile. Subsequently develop risk-based mitigation measures to be implemented in security planning.
- Maintain awareness and track uncontrollable risks that could impact a given production (such as severe weather, social unrest, crime, etc.).
- Navigate and maintain multiple relationships across a diverse hierarchy.
- Provide daily briefings and reminders to crew enforcing security compliance.
- Ongoing management of security planning in collaboration with Locations deparment and security vendor to ensure adequate staffing numbers and quality personnel.
- Connect with local authorities and make sure that all plans and procedures comply with local rules and regulations.
- Support the safety and security of the cast, crew, members of staff, and intellectual property.
- Able to perform social media research for any relevant information referencing the cast or the production.
- Report any building or stage security issues for proactive reconciliation.
- Monitor production schedule and proactively review changing security needs (i.e.- offsite sound recordings, locations, production weekend working or studio-based requirements).
- Participate in relevant meetings with members of production to maintain a consistent flow of information.
- Communicate with the Global Security Production Manager on a weekly basis with any updates or concerns.
Basic Qualifications:
- Over five years of progressive experience in private sector security, law enforcement, military, or production environments, including a minimum of two years managing both direct and indirect reports and/or vendors."
- Excellent written and communication skills.
- Demonstrate ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrate ability to manage multiple projects.
- Demonstrate ability to problem solve unexpected situations in a timely matter, exercise good judgment.
- Strong operational capabilities with experience executing operational contingency plans based on threats and exposure to production talent, crew, assets, locations, and company brand.
- Working knowledge of physical security systems to include, but not limited to intrusion detection systems, CCTV, alarm monitoring systems, communications devices, and other security related software/hardware.
- Working knowledge of production security as required to conduct investigations, assessments and provide recommendations and/or implement the security measures needed to protect talent, production locations, facilities, and intellectual property.
- Demonstrates resiliency, sound judgment, and tact in dealing with business and corporate challenges.
- Attention to accuracy as well as the ability to work under pressure, consistently meet deadlines, and prioritize according to business needs.
- Maintain a valid driver’s license and guard license if/as required by local law. (Not required at time of hire).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong cross-group collaboration and relationship management skills including directing and coordinating 3rd party vendors/partners to achieve deliverables.
- Experience conducting security advances, on the ground production security support and developing risk assessments.
Required Education
- High School diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Education:
- Bachelor’s degree or international equivalent in an area of study relevant to this position
Preferred Training/ Certification:
- First Aid, CPR and AED Certification
The hiring range for this remote position is C$113,200.00 to C$151,800.00 per year, which factors in various geographic regions. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A full range of medical, financial, and/or other variable pay or benefits, may be offered dependent on the level and position offered.
