Job Summary:
Assistant Manager Asset Protection Retail Stores
The Asset Protection Manager ensures a safe and secure environment for Cast Members and Guests across multiple Disney store retail locations. This role manages the Asset Protection team, including internal personnel and third-party security providers, and oversees the execution of comprehensive programs focusing on security, profit protection, incident management, and compliance. The Asset Protection Manager utilizes advanced industry knowledge, certifications, and security technologies to safeguard store assets and mitigate risks.
A Day in the Life of an Asset Protection Manager…
Lead daily operations of the Asset Protection Specialists, providing visible deterrence and addressing security concerns, including escalated guest interactions, aggressive behavior, ORC, civil unrest, and potential threats. Mentor and develop team members to enhance performance and leadership capabilities. Provide coaching and performance management as required to constantly grow and develop team members.
Collaborate with business leadership to execute proactive Asset Protection strategies designed to reduce shrink and mitigate Workplace safety risks. Maintain strong relationships with law enforcement, retail partners, and third-party security providers, enhancing security measures, emergency response strategies, and incident resolution across locations.
Provide ongoing AP, risk and retail operations training. Provide specialized training on Retail Counterterrorism, Workplace Security Programs, and emergency preparedness. Tailor training to enhance situational awareness and crisis response.
Responsible for the management and execution of Retail Asset Protection and Risk Programs throughout all retail locations supporting Shrink Mitigation, Training & Awareness and Workplace Safety.
Oversee safety and security audits, including inspections of CCTV, EAS, and access control systems, ensuring compliance with TWDC guidelines and industry standards. Adjust protocols as needed based on audit results.
Manage security technologies (CCTV, EAS, radios, access control) and ensure their operational efficiency. Stay current with technological advancements to enhance operational effectiveness. Work closely with Home Base Personnel and retail operations partners to ensure proper utilization and functionality of all technology & tools.
Lead investigations into security incidents, analyzing trends to identify opportunities for risk reduction and shrinkage prevention. Use data analysis tools to generate actionable insights for continuous improvement.
Lead crisis management initiatives in collaboration with internal teams, including Disney Consumer Products, providing expertise during high-stakes situations and support.
Work with the Operations Leadership Team to address profit protection challenges, applying problem-solving skills to resolve issues and contribute to long-term strategies that reduce shrinkage and improve profitability.
Lead recruitment, hiring, and onboarding programs of Asset Protection Specialists and third-party security personnel. Foster continuous learning and development within the team.
Oversee proper scheduling of the Asset Protection team to meet security needs across all store locations, optimizing coverage during peak periods.
Deliver ongoing training to Cast Members on workplace safety and risk mitigation, incorporating real-world scenarios and advanced threat detection techniques to promote awareness and reduce risk.
Work closely with leadership teams across various business units, including Disney Consumer Products and Global Security to provide pre-event planning and on-site support as needed.
You will need these skills to be successful in this role…
+5 years in Asset Protection/Loss Prevention in a large, multi-unit specialty retail environment.
+5 years or more of leadership experience
Proven ability to manage high-pressure situations with successful incident resolution.
Experience leading, developing, and mentoring teams to foster accountability and performance.
Ability to manage diverse teams, including third-party security personnel, while maintaining high standards.
In-depth knowledge of Asset Protection programs, workplace safety, and security policies.
Proficient in security technologies such as CCTV, EAS, access control systems, and incident-based reporting.
Expertise in loss prevention, shrinkage reduction, and crime prevention.
Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), Certified Forensic Interviewer (CFI), or other industry-recognized certifications preferred.
Wicklander-Zulawski or equivalent interview and interrogation certification is a plus.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and security management software (e.g., CCTV management systems, access control systems).
Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with shifting priorities and emerging threats.
Strong ethical foundation and ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make data-driven decisions under pressure.
Experience using data analytics for incident tracking and trend analysis.
Proven experience conducting thorough investigations, with knowledge of legal and ethical considerations in asset protection.

The hiring range for this position in New York, NY is $83,200 to $111,500 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
