Job Summary:

The Enterprise Environmental Sustainability Team at The Walt Disney Company (TWDC) is part of the Global Public Policy organization which is responsible for the development of company-wide environmental sustainability goals. The team provides enterprise-wide support and oversight of the goals and leads environmental data collection, analysis and reporting. Collaboration with corporate functions and business segments including Parks & Resorts, Cruise Lines, Movie & TV Production, Consumer Products, Sourcing and others is a key aspect of the team’s responsibility. As aggregators of enterprise-wide environmental performance data, the team provides strategic insight to reduce Disney’s environmental impacts, manage environmental risks, and seek opportunities to drive value from the company’s environmental efforts.

The Renewable Energy and Emissions team within the Enterprise Environmental Sustainability Team is responsible for developing TWDC’s Scope 1 & 2 Emissions Forecasting Model and Strategy, including data gathering, reporting, and continuous improvement. The team also partners with segment teams across the enterprise to support strategy development and implementation of on-site Emissions reductions and implements off-site Renewable Energy Contracts and projects at a corporate level to meet TWDC’s Scope 1&2 targets. As part of the Renewable Energy and Emissions team, the Program Manager role will lead the update and development of the Scope 1&2 Emissions forecasting model and assist in the development of a strategy to hit our Scope 1&2 Emissions and Zero Carbon Electricity Goal across the enterprise.

This overall purpose of this role is to support The Walt Disney Company’s progress towards its scope 1&2 emissions goals, including to purchase or produce 100% Zero Carbon Electricity, reduce absolute scope 1 and 2 emissions by 46.2% and achieve net zero emissions by 2030.

What You Will Do:

  • Lead the development and upkeep of a dynamic, enterprise-wide emissions model that incorporates business growth, energy requirements, emissions factor changes and other drivers of change in emission annually and over the goal period.
  • Collaborate with site environmental teams, data collection teams and other stakeholders to understand data requirements for various energy and emissions analytics projects.
  • Develop and implement ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) and ELT (Extract,  Load, Transform) processes to integrate data from diverse sources, ensuring data accuracy and reliability for modeling and analysis.
  • Stay up to date with industry best practices in data modeling, energy data management, and emissions tracking.
  • Contribute to the development of emissions-related data visualizations and reports by ensuring the underlying data models support effective data representation.
  • Research clean energy trends: emerging technologies, policies and regulations, emerging best practices and strategies, environmental and social equity, energy market structures and innovations.
  • Assist in the integration of financial and emissions-based analysis for the evaluation of clean energy projects.
  • Support the scope 1 and 2 emissions team on other initiatives as needed, including but not limited to energy efficiency, electrification and lower carbon fuels.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

  • 3+ years experience
  • Experience in modeling and forecasting energy and greenhouse gas emissions and building scenario analysis tools
  • Experience with data integration and ETL/ELT tools and processes
  • Experience developing reporting dashboards of energy and carbon metrics
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) and their data connectivity requirements
  • Understanding of energy data concepts (e.g., electricity consumption, natural gas usage, renewable energy generation) and emissions accounting principles (e.g., GHG Protocol)
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters in Environmental Science/ Engineering / Energy / Business or related fields
  • 5 years experience, or 3 years with graduate degree
  • Experience with programming languages such as Python or R for data manipulation and analysis is a plus
  • Experience in climate and energy policy; familiarity at the local and global level
  • Experience project managing, sustainability engineering projects, and/or carbon reduction projects
  • Experience in clean energy technologies, from R&D stages to commercialized and market ready; includes renewable energy, energy efficiency, and low carbon fuels

Bachelors in Environmental Science/ Engineering / Energy / Business or related fields

The hiring range for this position in Burbank, CA is $113,800 to $152,500 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
