Job Summary:

The Synergy, Strategy & Solutions Manager will report to the Senior Director, Synergy Strategy & Solutions and will be responsible for supporting team members with a variety of projects to help maximize partnership and promotional opportunities for the company. Specifically, the candidate is a self-starter who has a passion for the intersection of sports, entertainment, news, and pop culture with an emphasis on TWDC brands and I/P. The Manager should have a strong background in communications, strategic planning, marketing, and project management.

Responsibilities:

  • Manages relationships between ESPN and all synergy partners across The Walt Disney Company (TWDC) including ABC Entertainment, ABC News, Disney Media and Entertainment Distribution, Disney+, Hulu, Freeform, Disney Parks, LucasFilm, Marvel, National Geographic Partners, FX Networks, ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex, and more.
  • Partners with ESPN Marketing, Programming, Production, PR, Social and other departments working to identify and maximize partnership opportunities in support of TWDC initiatives.
  • Supports in the management and planning of the budget.
  • Collaborates with Vice President and Sr. Director for all short- and long-range planning.
  • Manages multiple projects on behalf of ESPN and TWDC simultaneously.
  • Establish a regular process of coordination with the Talent Production Office to improve success in talent bookings and increase synergy between daily television and other content units across ESPN.
  • Will have a keen sense of who is being booked for ESPN shows along with GMA, The View, and how we can work more efficiently within 7 Hudson.
  • Understands the difference in shows/platforms across the networks to suggest appropriate and timely guests.
  • Works closely with Production counterparts to suggest alternative options for guests for requests that are feasible/realistic.

Required Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Word and Google sheets, slides, and docs. Knowledge of AirTable a plus.
  • Digital maven, particularly skilled at understanding the nuances between social media platforms and how to effectively leverage each.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and interpersonal, expressing ideas, thoughts, and facts in a clear, convincing, and organized way.
  • Highly organized and able to work independently on projects – attention to detail is imperative.
  • Self-starter with strong initiative and problem-solving skills – the candidate must demonstrate good judgement and be able to think on their toes.
  • Ability to effectively handle a large quantity of projects and tasks simultaneously under deadlines, deal effectively with press, and complete tasks with minimal direction or instruction.
  • Creative thinker who enjoys bringing brands together in unique and unexpected ways.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of related work experience.
  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Candidate should have a healthy obsession with popular culture and the role sports plays in it.
  • Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively across multiple departments and disciplines in a fast-paced environment and highly matrixed company.
  • Guest/talent booking experience.
  • Disney and/or ESPN experience/interest or sports/entertainment experience preferred.
  • SAP proficiency.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.
  • Flexible and adaptable work schedule for changing business demands.

Required Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, communications, or related field

The hiring range for this position in New York, NY is $96,200 to $132,200 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
