Overview: 

 

Walt Disney Studios Canada (WDSC) a Toronto-based division of The Walt Disney Company Canada Ltd., is seeking a Manager of Publicity and Influencer Marketing. Reporting to the Director of Publicity, this role will be instrumental in elevating the visibility and impact of our theatrical and streaming releases across Canada for studio brands Walt Disney Pictures, Walt Disney Animation, and Pixar Animation. The ideal candidate will develop and lead innovative publicity and influencer strategies, while collaborating closely with U.S.-based teams to ensure alignment and maximize reach. 

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Lead and execute publicity strategies for Walt Disney Live Action, Walt Disney Animation, and Pixar titles across Canada. 

  • Develop and implement strategic media outreach plans, including targeted pitches, press days (in-person and virtual), long-lead coverage, first-look opportunities, and trailer premieres. 

  • Organize and manage press events such as junkets, set visits, Canadian PA tours, interviews, film festivals, and conventions. 

  • Design and execute influencer campaigns, securing partnerships and managing screening programs to amplify reach. 

  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with national and local media across broadcast, print, digital, radio, and blogging platforms to maximize coverage. 

  • Coordinate and attend press screenings and promotional events. 

  • Oversee press communications, including maintaining press lists and distributing key materials. 

  • Draft and execute press releases supporting trailer launches, creative assets, cross-media initiatives, and other content rollouts. 

  • Collaborate with WDS Canada team members to develop integrated marketing programs that ensure cohesive and impactful campaigns. 

  • Mentor and guide coordinators and interns, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment. 

  • Create and present executive-level reports and presentations for priority titles. 

  • Manage and support special marketing projects as assigned. 

 

Requirements: 

  • Minimum 5+ years of publicity and promotions experience within the film or entertainment industry. 

  • Strong working relationships with the Canadian film & entertainment media (broadcast, print, digital, radio, bloggers). 

  • Solid influencer working relationships and experience. 

  • Demonstrated knowledge and enthusiasm for film, the entertainment industry, the arts and pop culture in general. 

  • Excellent organizational skills, detail oriented & superior written abilities a must. 

  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task, work under pressure, and meet deadlines with minimal supervision. 

  • Enthusiastic, hard working with excellent interpersonal and communication skills. 

  • Experience working with talent, filmmakers, their representatives and other key stakeholders. 

 

Education: 

  • Completion of a Public Relations degree or equivalent.
