Content Platforms & Operations is responsible for the development and ongoing advancement of the technical and operational functions driving the worldwide distribution and monetization of Disney’s linear networks and theatrical content. This includes Disney’s media supply chain and storage, network and theatrical distribution operations, media localization, network transmission and origination, and more.

This Director role will sit within the Content Platforms organization, which is responsible for advancing the technologies and workflows that enable Disney’s global content supply chain distribution and monetization functions.

Job Summary:

As Director, Software Engineering, you will establish and lead a growing engineering organization based in Bangalore, India, dedicated to Content Platforms. This team partners closely with U.S.-based product, design, and QA colleagues to deliver scalable, reliable, and secure systems that power Disney’s content supply chain distribution and monetization functions. You will oversee multiple managers and their teams, drive recruitment and technical excellence, and ensure global collaboration that enables Disney Entertainment & ESPN to deliver and monetize its unparalleled content across every screen. You will also shape technical strategy, foster innovation, and guide delivery of complex, distributed applications aligned with the mission of Content Platforms.

You will mentor world-class teams in their development and operation of our platforms. You must understand the demands of managing a 24x7 application at a large scale with well-defined operational objectives.

Responsibilities and Duties of the Role:

  • Lead and scale an India-based engineering organization within Content Platforms, including recruiting, mentoring, and developing managers and engineers.

  • Ensure effective global collaboration with product, design, and QA teams in the U.S. to deliver aligned outcomes.

  • Organizes team structure to maximize business success while ensuring appropriate matching between team member responsibilities and areas of expertise.

  • Define and govern KPIs for development efficiencies, solution quality and system stability/resiliency.

  • Responsible for multiple roadmaps within and resolves any priority conflicts or trade-offs within those roadmaps.

  • Drive delivery of scalable, performant, and secure systems that support the global content supply chain.

  • Work together with product, design and QA teams to plan work according to roadmap timelines

  • Partner with other engineering teams to solve complex problems while considering performance, scalability, caching, resiliency, and flexibility for expanding product requirements 

  • Support hypercare when needed

Required Education, Experience/Skills/Training:

Basic Qualifications

  • 12+ years in software engineering with at least 5+ years leading managers and distributed/global teams.

  • Proven track record of building and scaling offshore/India-based engineering teams.

  • Strong technical foundation across modern application stacks (Java, Node.js, React, REST/GraphQL).

  • Demonstrated success delivering enterprise-grade, high-scale platforms in collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders.

  • Deep experience with cloud (AWS or equivalent), CI/CD pipelines, and modern DevOps practices.

  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence across global teams and functions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Keen ability to take high-level direction, work through ambiguity and drive to execution in an iterative model

  • Strong understanding of DevOps, Continuous Delivery, and Agile development

  • Understanding of AWS services (e.g., Cloudwatch, EC2, S3, etc) 

  • Familiarity with Salesforce

  • Familiarity with monetization workflows (rights management, avails, pricing, scheduling)

  • Experience implementing AI/ML-assisted tools to improve engineering velocity and quality.

  • Track record of driving technical strategy and transformation across global organizations.

Required Education  

  • BS Computer Science or related technical discipline or its equivalent
